Employee Behaviour at Work

Why is that you get people working with you who can't do their job or just don't want to?

I work at a fast food place. Yes, I know it's not the most glamorous job in the world, but it pays my bills. My problem is that I get people working there who don't want to work there. Do I like working there? No, not really, but I do my job. I get up and go to work every day, regardless of whether I want to or not. I get annoyed when people come to work, and then complain all day of how they don't want to be there. Sometimes it makes me want to pull my own hair out, or most of the time - hurt someone. Needless to say, I've never actually hit anyone, though I've been sorely tempted to a few times.

Does it really matter if you don't want to be there or not? You're there to work, not mouth off about how much you hate your job and want to go home. The point of having a job is to work. I don't care why you're working. Honestly, I don't. It doesn't matter to me whether you're doing it for a good reason - saving for college, saving for a car, helping with bills - or for a selfish reason - you just want cash, and there's nothing wrong with that. I understand. I was there once. There are other job options, though, and if you hate it enough to do nothing but say how horrible the job is, then you should probably re-think your job.

The problem with complaining is that you have people around you who can't stand to listen to your stupid whining and jabbering on. That's not what you're there for. If you want to do that, go home, because no one there wants to hear you. I promise you that. For instance, the other day, one of the cooks was goofing off, talking, and not working and doing their job. Orders were taking 20 - 30 minutes at a fast food place. Is that bad? Yes, very much so. Also, we had people that day who didn't want to clean the store. Why? I don't know and I don’t care. The fact of the matter is even if you don't want to do it, if it's your job, you HAVE to. It's what you're getting paid to do.

Lesson: Do the job you're getting paid for, and if you really hate it that much: Find another job and QUIT! Everyone will be better off, believe me. You won't be missed by anyone that matters.
